I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, as 1/4 of a super cool familial unit whose other three parts include my "red pen" grammarian, book-inhaling, forever-optimistic mother, Allie; my near-twin, entrepreneurial, stand-up-comedian-caliber hilarious brother, Eli; and my late businessman-turned-novelist father, David. My dad’s passing in July 2023 shook us beyond belief, and we continue to celebrate his love of travel here.
My schooling trajectory zigzagged from Montessori school > small little Charlotte Country Day School > big ol’ Myers Park High School > teeny tiny Washington & Lee University. There, I studied English and creative writing but found the common thread of music naturally weaving its way into my coursework and hobbies. During my four years tucked away in the Shenandoah Valley, I played keys in a band from time to time, I was on the board that produced the school's concerts and festivals, I hosted a weekly radio show on WLUR 91.5, and I ultimately wrote my English Capstone on how music affects the art of writing memoir.
After graduating in 2012, I made the natural move to Music City, where I began working in the marketing department of an old-school toy company that closed shop a few months after my hire. Laid off from my first full-time job!? So this is the "real world" people speak of. Having tirelessly "networked" in the music industry, I finally landed at an artist management company, LEX Music Group, where I worked with bands, solo artists, and producers for more than six years. I left at the beginning of 2019 to free up time to follow other passions. I still do bits and pieces of that job — management, marketing, and graphic design — for artists part-time.
I’m now a staff writer for StyleBlueprint, an online publication with a robust Southern readership. We write about Southern makers, inspiring women, style, happenings, food and bev, travel, design, and more. Look for my eight monthly articles here.
I am also a fully certified Pilates instructor, and I lead the team at Club Pilates North Gulch as lead instructor. My husband, Matthew, and I are working on turning our first home in Germantown into our little slice of heaven. I love playing Settlers of Catan, walking the downtown greenway, and devouring British period dramas and crime series. Find me "researching" the Germantown food scene or in the Southwest terminal of BNA, coming or going from another spot on the map. I am still learning how to sit still.
